As I said in my review, the first visual novel that I have enjoyed to the point I want to play it again. Never played Disco Elysium, so I don't know what context/references I missed, but still look forward the fully voiced game.
Kudos to the VAs (Handler and Sartha having voices was pretty nice! The rest was actually pretty good too, but them having voices was the part I was looking forward to the most, to be honest).
I am interested in playing your game, but I would like to have an estimate of how long it will take! Please update your game's page description to include a wordcount or expected playthrough time so I (and others) can set aside an appropriate amount of time to focus on reading it.
sure, thanks! i think in one playthrough you’d see 16k words or so, and it would take between one and two hours. the total word count is about 19k. ill put it in the description
a Disco Elysium fangame wasn't on my bingo sheet for this jam's entries but it's pretty cool that it exists. The art is very lovely and the writing gets the humor of de down pretty consistently I quite enjoyed it.
Surprisingly abrasive, but handled well enough and I think it brings up some interesting ideas, a terrifying masculinity that demands you must, should, do this, and I am fond of trans Harry as an idea, though the direction overall ended up not really being my thing unfortunately. I haven't read WARHOUND though so I'm probably missing out on quite a bit of context lol. Thank you for sharing!
thanks so much for playing! i think the main context that you’re missing from WARHOUND is:
spoilers for the game, mild spoilers for WARHOUND handler is *not* helpful: she brainwashes people to fuck them up and make them dependent on her. all that stuff sartha says is completely wrong
